There will be more than 40,000 U.S. deaths from drug overdose this year, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and another 300,000 emergency room visits for drug and alcohol abuse. The holidays are an especially dangerous time as stress levels run high.
I stole that from somewhere, but I found it interesting. I am reposting it today, because I think whether it is a holiday or not (Even though we just passed Memorial day) the numbers are staggering. The tsunami in Japan didn’t take that many lives, and it lives on in infamy. I realize that so often, there are people who are “out of control,” but they have been doing it so long everyone turns a blind eye to the devastation.
